Merrick Studer is Our 2025 Fellow
Merrick Studer, a law student at University of Oregon, is a 2025 summer intern with Legal Aid Services of Oregon, supported by a grant from the Oregon Women Lawyers Foundation. Merrick was a 2023 graduate of the University of Washington, where he received a BS in Biology: Ecology, Evolution, and Conservation as part of an interdisciplinary honors program. While an undergrad he worked as a paleobotany research assistant at the Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture and, perhaps most notably, as a University of Washington mascot. Merrick hopes to use his experience and skills to help those most adversely affected by the climate crisis. Merrick's summer internship comes about as part of his selection as a Multnomah Bar Association fellow. Armonica Law Student Grant: Applications are accepted from August 1 to September 15 and must be submitted during a student’s final year of law study. Grant recipients are matched with a mentor judge or senior attorney and receive a monetary award of $3,000. To learn more about the grant, click here. Vernellia R. Randall Bar Exam Grant: Applications are accepted between August 1 and October 1 for the February exam, and January 1 and March 1 for the July 2026 Oregon bar exam. Eligible to apply are law student parents with children under the age of 18 who are preparing for the next Oregon Bar Exam. Recipients will receive a $5,000 monetary award.
