The Vernellia R. Randall Grant (also known as the Bar Exam Grant) is available to parents with children under the age of 18. Applicants must be in their last year of law school. The grant honors Vernellia R. Randall, who has made a lasting contribution to the Oregon Women Lawyers Foundation and has played a significant role in the effort to give women and minorities greater access to the justice system.
The current amount of the grant is $5,000.
Grant determination is based on the following:
- The ages and number of the applicant’s children, with special consideration given to students with children under the age of 6 or with special needs, and to single custodial parents: 45%
- Other aspects of financial need: 20%
- Personal statement: 25%
- Overall application, including typographical errors, spelling, grammar, and completeness: 10%
