Spotlight on Armonica Grant Recipient Jessica Charles–From an Interview with Gizem Demirel
Jessica Charles is one of the Armonica Law Student Grant recipients for the 2021-2022 academic year. She is a student at Willamette University College of Law. And this is the inspiring story of her tenacious effort in making her childhood dream come true. Although she has no one in her family involved in the legal profession, she was surrounded by the sad stories of injustices and unfairness in her community. All she could think of was finding ways to be part of the solution, and that’s why she started to dream of becoming a criminal lawyer when she was little. Jessica slowly but adamantly started to execute her plan to become a lawyer. First, she became a political science student at Northwest Nazarene University (NNU) in Idaho. Second, she decided to start her legal career at Willamette University with the encouragement of the President of NNU, Joel Pearsall, who is also a Willamette graduate with a J.D. degree. However, she had to borrow the maximum student loans to attend … [Read more...] about Spotlight on Armonica Grant Recipient Jessica Charles–From an Interview with Gizem Demirel

Thanks from Armonica Grant Recipient April Stone
2018 Armonica Law Student Grant recipient April Stone recently shared her thoughts on what it means to be among those who receive the grant: "As you know, attending law school requires an increasingly daunting financial obligation, especially for students like me, who are raising a child during law school. I could not be more delighted to have been awarded a grant to assist with the expense of textbooks. The grant provided a significant offset against my school expenses, which in turn has allowed me to provide a little more to my family this year. I decided to pay your generosity forward and donate the texts that I purchase with the grant to other law students in need after I use them." The Oregon Women Lawyers Foundation is pleased to be able to recognize April Stone with the 2018 Armonica Law Student Grant. … [Read more...] about Thanks from Armonica Grant Recipient April Stone
