The Foundation awards a $5,000 grant to financially assist law students who are parents with children under the age of 18 to prepare for the bar exam. The grant is named in honor of Vernellia R. Randall, who made a lasting contribution to the Foundation and plays a significant role in the efforts to give women and historically underrepresented groups greater access to the justice system. The Foundation will give special consideration to students who are raising their children on their own, and to students with multiple children, children under the age of 6, and children with special needs. Previous receipt of a different grant from the Oregon Women Lawyers Foundation is not a barrier to application. Applicants must be in their final year of law school and intend to practice law in Oregon.
The Foundation historically awards one grant for each bar exam.
For applicants taking the February bar exam, applications must be submitted between August 1 and October 1. Applications submitted outside this period will not be considered. The grant recipient will be notified by November 1.
For applicants taking the July bar exam, applications must be submitted between January 1 and March 1. Applications submitted outside this period will not be considered. The grant recipient will be notified by April 1.
Apply for the grant using the online application form.
